Wiltshire Treehouse Pride of Swindon Award 2022
‘Making life changing differences at very emotional times’
|
The Pride of Swindon Awards honour the extraordinary personal commitment the people of Swindon give to their local community
On Thursday 21st April Wiltshire Treehouse were honoured to be awarded a Pride of Swindon Award 2022 for their services to local bereaved children, young people and their families. Special mention was made of the ways the charity responded to the pandemic to ensure that support continued to be available, even with a 54% increase in referrals:
“The team of 25 volunteers and 4 part time paid staff have worked tirelessly to keep up with the requests that they receive from local families. Providing therapeutic support & opportunities, this continued during the issues caused by the covid 19 pandemic, developing online and phone services that enabled them to continue that support during that time.”
“The team continues to provide help for some of the most vulnerable children with little regard for the time and emotional energy that they themselves put in. So making life changing differences at very emotional times.”
Master of Ceremonies, Shirley Ludford of Swindon 105.5
Kath Brownlee, Service Director and some of the staff and volunteers attended the ceremony at the Legends Lounge, Swindon County Ground. Wiltshire Treehouse volunteer Nuala Szelia also received an individual award for her work with the service over the last 5 years, as well as with her local church and community.
